Arundel Castle Norman, 29th - 31st March 2024

Arundel Castle

Medieval Festival Easter Arundel

Day 1 Following yesterday's storm force during set up, challenging to say the least, the day started blustery after after a shower the day turned out brilliantly weatherwise...

1400 visitors on a Good Friday, with unpredictable weather, who were very supportive and chatty, and stayed most of the day...

Some excellent combat, some um interesting archery (I'll grant you some good shots ,and taking down Sir William twice was impressive), and some great living history displays...

Congratulations to Chris for bring knighted, we'll earnt and deserved, and looking forward to seeing his colours added tonthe shield wall...

Huge thank you to Morag and Emily for great first days spread of food, not much left so clearly went down well...

Day 2 An excellent day both weather wise and visitor numbers... over 2600 visitors through the gates, and if the car park hadn't been partially flooded it's likely we would have got alot more...

Some excellent combat, an excellent win by the archers was well appreciated by the audience...Good to see three crossbows out there, more please for 12th century displays...

Another great spread of food from Morag and Em, and again didn't see much left over, and some great living history displays from all...

Thanks to David for adding some more combat and archery shots to those I took.at start of day...

Final day looms and always feels we are just getting into our stride...

Huge thanks to all who attended so far, you are all contributing to a fantastic first event...

n behalf of everyone at Arundel Castle I would to pass our thanks and appreciation for making the first event of the season so successful...

Scores on the doors of visitors - Fri 1400 Sat 2600 Sun 1900

Considering the parking spaces available in the whole of the town due to flooding and work on the riverbanks that's an impressive number. Huge amount of thanks from visitors, appreciation for what they saw and did, and people saying how much they enjoyed the day...

The weather gods were certainly generous, and those that survived Set Up in the gale force winds, and then assisted to resurrect the encampment and activities deserve huge amount of thanks and praise, well done all...

A word from out sponsor (who is not only the Castle Manager, but also now Senior Carpark Attendant)...

An excellent start to the season enhanced by the unexpected blue sky for each of the three days. It was great to see everyone again and looking forward to the further events this year. Wishing all a safe journey home see you at the end of May.

A big well done to Paul for persevering despite a nearly lost voice. Regards Andrew.

Sacrificing another KFC in thanks for the blue skies' for this event, and hopefully end of May will be as good.

Thank you to everyone for your support, enthusiasm and energy, all very much appreciated.
