Arundel Castle Joust Week July 2022

And that, ladies and gentlemen, was an incredible week, on so many levels...

To the 9 members of the group who braved the four days during the week, a huge thank you for your support, time and endurance, with both heat and visitor numbers...

To the others who supported with whatever time they had during the week, and at the weekend, your support was greatly appreciated, and made this a very successful event... A record 12,700 visitors over the six days is an amazing amount of people, who really were treated to a huge array of have ago activities, arena displays, demonstrations, sights, sounds, and smells (and that's just the fire eater) within the encampment, and plenty of interaction with the public from everyone involved in the event.

The spectacle of the Joust speaks for itself, it's what the visitors come to see, and they certainly weren't disappointed, especially at the weekend. But all of you are the historical backdrop that enhances the castles history, and that of the 15th century, and that, with the Joust, really brought history alive this week.

A phenomenal effort from you all through the heat, and the volume of visitors, greatly enhanced the visitor experience this week, well done to everyone.

The back bone to any event is Morag and Courtney, and thanks are never enough to convey my appreciation for all the hard work on site during the event, but all the pre work of shopping, preparation and late night cooking...

Seriously people, ALWAYS remember to say thank you to hands that feed you, especially at events...

Huge thanks to both of you, yet again... Andrew, prior to presenting the prizes to the Jousters, publicly thank me, and everyone in Raven Tor, then by group name or by company name who participated through out the years events, and the Joust...

First time any manager has ever done that folks, so that's a huge pat on the back to everyone, and true recognition for all your hardwork and support.

You all are an amazing group of people, and it's been a great honour and privilege to work with you all again over these six days.

I look forward to seeing you all in August either at the History Days/Weekend, but especially at the 12,000 Years of History at the end of the month.
